Dogs DIE in Hot Cars!

2 July 2009 No Comment

When will people learn?

Following my previous post, I was very sad to receive the following news this morning:

A Nottingham Police Dog Handler is responsible for the deaths of two German Shepherd police dogs which were left in a hot car, parked outside the police headquarters.

The RSPCA and Independent Police Complaints Commission have been called in to investigate although at present the handler has not been suspended.

Nottinghamshire Police have issued a statement highlighting that the welfare of their animals is “of paramount importance”.

We are all aware of the risks of leaving dogs in hot cars so why on earth is this still happening, especially when experienced dog handlers should know better.

I am sure that this was negligence rather than neglect on the part of the handler but for all dogs’ sakes PLEASE do NOT leave your dog in a hot car.
