Puppy farms are cruel and archaic. Yet many people don’t realise they even exist.

Many puppies are bought from places where there are kennels filled with dogs living in appalling conditions, and sleeping in their own excrement.

Breeding studs and bitches suffer from diseases and aren’t treated. Puppies are often born very poorly and die soon after going home to their new family. You can see from the above image what happens to the animals that don’t find homes.

Something needs to be done.

Marc Abraham, celebrity vet, is committed to raising awareness on puppy mills and so has, along with dog loving colleagues at the PetNet, organised the ‘World’s Largest Puppy Party’ on Saturday Sept 19th 2009.

There will be trade stands and guest speakers as well as celebrity judges who will be judging the novelty puppy dog show.

Marc and his team are hoping to educate potential puppy owners about puppies that come from puppy farms. They want us all to work together to make a change on how puppies are bred in the UK.

The event is non-profit and will be raising funds for Prodogs, who rescue ex-breeding bitches from puppy farms, and Sussex Pet Rescue.
